About Jessica McGilvray

Birth. The miracle of new life.

The sweet smell of a newborn baby’s head, the warmth of that little body curled into yours. Transformation. The birth of a mother. Exhaustion, exhilaration, joy, uncertainty–all the myriad emotions of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. And through it all, a nurturing presence, a gentle touch, a soft place to land–that’s what it is to be a doula, to walk with and beside women, to nurture, encourage, and support, to witness the miracle of women becoming mothers again and again.

Wherever you are in your journey, whether you are looking for support in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or breastfeeding, it is my privilege to walk beside you. Your concerns become my concerns, I find joy as you find joy, confidence, and your power. Your goals and choices for yourself and your baby are paramount. I will immerse you in love, respect, kindness, and support in your unique journey and needs.

It has been my privilege to serve over 500 women and families from pregnancy to postpartum. I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, certified lactation counselor (CLC), newborn care specialist, and student midwife. In addition to 8 years as a professional doula, I bring a background in early childhood education and advanced training in newborn behavior and infant sleep to the table, along with hours of continuing education every year to ensure I am providing the best support possible.

A mother of four myself, I have spent a cumulative total of 9 years breastfeeding my babies, with birth experiences that include hospital birth, homebirth, and a preemie in the NICU. I am wife to a wonderful husband and kitty mom to three spoiled cats. In addition to a passion for birth work, I also have a great love for the Lord and a strong faith that permeates my life. When I find a leisure moment, I can be found curled up with a cup of tea and a good book or tending my garden.
